The Spirit of Ecstasy is one of the most well known motor car icon in the world. Designed by Charles Robinson Sykes, it has adorned the radiators of Rolls-Royce motor cars since 1911. It was modeled after a young woman  who was great in beauty, intellect and esprit – but she hadn’t social status enough  to marry the man who love. The main characters of this history was  Eleanor Velasco Thornton and John Walter Edward-Scott Montagu (second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu after 1905, a pioneer of the automobile movement, and editor of The Car).
