The origin of this 2nd World War II iconic car it’s an Army’s tender to get a small 4×4. Initially won by a small company “American Bantam Car”. But Army wants more production capacity, so gives the blueprints to Willys-Overland Motors to build the Willys MB and after, looking for even more production, also Ford begins to build the Ford GPW under Willys licensing.
Name Jeep came from a military designation GP (for Government Purposes), other told that came from how the soldiers named this car: Eugene the Jeep (a character in the Popeye cartoons). Jeep became a brand of Chrysler Group, nowadays a subsidiary of Italian multinational automaker Fiat.
This car has evolved over the years to become the Jeep Wrangler that still can buy at the dealer of your city. Look to the brothers on this pics.
