The Swedish manufacturer will built only 80 Regera (means “to reign” in Swedish”). A hypercar with 1509hp from its 5.0 liter V-8 engine hybridized with three electric motors! Following the example set by other hybrid hypercars like the 2013 McLaren P1, the 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari, and the 2011 Porsche 918.
A rare feature for this car: has no convential gearbox! just a hydraulic coupling that, when closed, links engine and wheels directly. Below 30 mph Regera relies on its electric motors, above 30 mph, the Regera’s engine speed and wheel speed rise in direct proportion (some Honda’s hybrid sedans use single-speed transmissions that are similar in concept). The company claims that the lack of a conventional gearbox both saves weight and reduces the power lost to the driveline by over 50 percent compared to a traditional transmission.
