The 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo concept car was created by Marcello Gandini, and was based on one of the most beatiful cars on history the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. But Alfa had trouble finding buyers due to its price. As a result, five of the Stradale chassis were passed to Italian carrozzerie: two to Pininfarina, one to Italdesign and two to Bertone. One of them, this Carabo with a V8, red-lined at 10,000rpm, and 230bhp.

Carabo is derived from ‘Carabidae’, a family of ground-beetles with a distinctive green and gold colour.
