1965 and 2011 Shelby GT350

Carroll Shelby died last year. This guy gave the world some of the most gorgeous cars, as AC Cobra or the Daytona Coupe.  Also very well known for enhancing Ford Mustang cars.

Shelby’s first Mustang was the 1965 Shelby GT350, with Wimbledon White colour with Guardsman Blue stripes that became a classic.  Shelby honored this car with a new 2011 version.  Enjoy the pics of the old and the new car.

A concept by Ford, using Shelby Daytona as inspiration. Caroll Shelby still influences new cars, more than only working in more powered Mustangs.

2012 Shelby Cobra 50th anniversary

The date it’s not a mistake!  To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Shelby will build 50 more Shelby Cobra this 2012!

It’s incredible the history of this guy, so important for all who love cars. In the 60’s Carroll Shelby import a British car by AC Motors and he installed a Ford engine.  Simple, but a piece of history to build one of the most incredible cars ever.

I’m posting pics of one of the new 50 Cobras, but u can also check the classic blue white-strapped look in this prior post.

It’s time for a set of pics of the old Mustang, u can find nice pics of 1964 Mustangs in an old post here:    https://gorgeouscars.wordpress.com/2010/11/07/1964-ford-mustang/

So, this time i’m gonna post a incredible nice replica of the 1965 Shelby GT500 edition, a really gorgeous car!

U know Shelby it’s a mythical american company that builds high performance cars.  They built this high performance variant of the Ford Mustang. That’s the reason the emblem it’s a snake, a “Cobra”, it isn’t the horse of all Mustangs. U know i love Shelby cars, u can find two cars posted in this blog: the Cobra and the Daytona Coupe.  Another two really gorgeous cars, Shelby we love u!

1964 AC Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe

Another nice car from Shelby, and from the 60’s. Like cobra is one of the most “replicated” cars in the world. Nowadays u can buy this car! Of course, replica not the original, but we need to say thanks to his companies that brings us the beauty from old cars to our days. If u have enough money, u can ask to buy a Cobra or a Daytona Coupe “replica” at:  http://www.shelbydaytonacobra.co.uk/

Here u have some historic notes that explain how Dayton Coupe rises from, probably the most known, AC Cobra.

During much of his active racing career Carroll Shelby raced against Ferrari(s). That did not change when he turned to building his own racing car, the Cobra. This well-honed machine was more than a match for Italy’s finest on the tight American tracks, winning the USRRC Championship in 1963. However on the high-speed tracks that hosted the FIA GT World Championship rounds the Shelby Cobra was let down by its poor (brick-like) aerodynamics. The ‘FIA specification’ Cobras were fitted with special hard-tops but these did not lower the drag sufficiently to keep up with the less powerful Ferraris on the straights. Shelby realized that far more drastic measures were needed and he asked his head of special projects Pete Brock to pen a low drag coupe body.

1964 AC Shelby Cobra 427

Another really incredible beatiful car from the 60’s…    it came from Carroll Shelby. While racing in Europe and North and South America throughout the 1950s, Carroll Shelby cherished one dream; building the world’s fastest sportscar.

I always love that car…  in my mind the blue color with white stripes becomes a classic forever!

I share with you some pics, but at the same time i recommend  u a web page i just discovered this week. The “Internet Movie Cars Database” is a great idea, u can query for the movies where a car has been filmed. For example, the AC Cobra:
